Joint Event with the Square Wheels Lodge 9966

Saturday 13th July saw the joint event between the Club and The Square Wheel Lodge No.9966, held at Guy’s Cliffe, Warwickshire. Whilst the lodge meeting was being held, the partners were treated to a Minibus trip to nearby Stratford on Avon where there was a Riverboat Cruise followed by the chance for some retail therapy. Afterwards, they all joined the Lodge at Guy’s Cliffe for the classic vehicle display. Images courtesy Mark Pierpoint.

Classic Motorshow Theme for 2024

News from the forthcoming Classic Motorshow from 8th to 10th November 2024. Club Coordinator, Alison Judge, writes:

As part of the show’s 40th anniversary celebrations, we are launching a prestigious ‘Hall of Fame’ to celebrate those who work closely with the show and the classic motoring community. From 2024 onwards, we will invite our chosen ‘inductees’ to join the Hall of Fame each year and will celebrate them at Birmingham’s NEC as part of the season finale.

Show Director Lee Masters explains: “We wanted to create something special that not only celebrates all that we’ve achieved so far as a show and as a community, but also recognises those who continually fight for the future of our hobby. Each year, the Hall of Fame will aim to recognise those people who go above and beyond and publicly thank them for all their efforts.”

There will be inductees in four categories – Industry Ambassador, Community Ambassador, Classic Car and Motoring Club. You can find out more about the Hall of Fame categories here:

As part of the launch, we are excited to reveal that ‘Hall of Fame’ is our 2024 show theme.

Clubs might choose to showcase the very best of your marque or your members’ cars along with vehicles that have taken on unbelievable challenges, have made history or just achieved the unthinkable. You also have the option to include those cars that are famous for all the wrong reasons too!

The aim and hope of having a show theme is to spark an idea which will help clubs present something a bit different for visitors to enjoy each year. Participation is very much encouraged but entirely optional. We hope you feel inspired and able to tailor your vehicle selection and display to reflect your club’s own ‘Hall of Fame’ in some way.

Please do share this news on your club’s website & social media. Digital banners are available in various sizes for use on club websites, social media or e-newsletters from: www.necclassicmotorshow.com/ezone-login/club-promotional-banners-show-logo. Don’t forget to link banners through to the show website www.necclassicmotorshow.com and include your club code CCCNOV466 in your text/post/article so your club’s members, friends and followers are reminded about the ticket discount.

We will be looking how we choose to represent ‘Hall of Fame’ on our stand in November.

First event reports from spring 2024

Sunday 7th April – Tour of the PEAK DISTRICT

First event off the grid, was Chairman Peter’s well organised ‘Tour of ‘The Peak District’ 7th April. This event was met with great success, with some 30 cars on the run, which is very commendable. Starting at Uttoxeter and finishing for Sunday Lunch at ‘The Bulls Head’, Moneyash,

Sunday 21st April Emma’s ‘Drive It Day’

Honorary Club member, Emma Airey’s company RH Insurance, organised this popular event which attracted some 75 participants from their head office in Worcester.

We all enjoyed some spectacular Worcestershire countryside, meandering around the Malvern Hills, finally finishing at ‘Westons Cider Mill’, Much Markle.

One car that did stand out, was a most spectacular Alvis TB21, one of only a few made and valued in the region of £250,000. This car belongs to Alvis Club owner Mike Wilson, a good friend of Alvis Owners Club Chairman and Club member, Anthony McGarel Groves.

We had a fabulous weekend at Classic Nostalgia at Shelsley Walsh. Very different days weather-wise. Saturday was cold and wet but Sunday was hot and sunny. Excellent to see Emma and the team from club sponsor RH Specialist Insurance braving the cold and wet on Saturday. A great set of cars on display from members of the National Masonic Vehicle Association. Special thank you to the Worcestershire Masonic Vehicle Club. Lots of other clubs displaying their cars and some great looking and sounding classic competition cars too.

8th July 2023 – Highnam Court

A great event at the Province of Gloucestershire Family Day at Highnam Court. With over 300 cars and a mixture of sunshine and rain but it did not spoil the day. In the end 2 Alvises turned up.

3rd June 2023 – Club Annual Karting Competition

Yesterday, Saturday 3rd June, the Club had another great day of racing at Sutton Kart Circuit for the annual club karting championship. The first entrant, long-time club member Jamie Pike, always supports us and this year he was solo and joined Rob & Monty Pierpoint making up the last team to be formed. They took the coveted team trophy. Team Kiwi youngest member & last year’s winner was Fred Lines who passed the Square Wheels cup over to Jamie. Fred was however awarded this year’s fastest lap. Many thanks to all who came and made it another memorable event. With the circuit’s help and the sale of a few raffle prizes, drinks and snacks afterwards, we managed to make 350 which we will send directly to the local blood bikes.

Many thanks and congratulations to organiser Mark Pierpoint for this report.
